Kill Van Kulls “Lost and Found”
This song has been on repeat as of late.
This is pretty amazing, right? Beat made ONLY with sounds from a bicycle.
Mark your calendars. Expect to see the Lanvin for H&M collection starting Nov/20/2010 in 200 stores worldwide.
I’ve always been very interested in tastemakers and their influence in culture. The upcoming short documentary Influencers, explores this group of people who are driving the trends in music and fashion.
Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives in advertising, design, fashion and entertainment.
Mural painter Matt W. Moore created a series of live painting performances on walls in MARSEILLE, LYON, and PARIS. Directors Le Groupuscule captured the evolution of each mural, gathering over 700,000 pictures, that were edited as a stop-motion animation to an unreleased track by Monsieur Monsieur to create this music video.
Loving this behind the scenes video for Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2010 campaign. It encompasses a lot of things I’m currently digging. The music by Washed Out, the styling with thigh high socks (which I fully intend on rocking out this upcoming season), the most perfect thin camel belt on top of a gorgeous black wrap dress, the mix of tough leather and soft knits…
Can’t wait. Bring on Fall.
Today marks 30 years since the suicide of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis. I thought it might be fitting to encourage anyone to watch the film Control, if you haven’t yet. It was really really good and flew too far below the radar.
The black and white film follows Curtis’ life from 1973 to 1980, focusing on his marriage, the formation and rise of Joy Division, his struggle with epilepsy, and ends with his untimely death. A very grim story, but if you are a fan of Joy Division and New Order, you’ll find the story enthralling and heartbreaking all at once.
The lead actor in the biopic—Sam Riley—does such an amazing job. Watch the clip above as he transforms himself completely to Curtis, providing pitch perfect vocals and all.
My father was one of 7 kids in a very poor New England family. He moved to NYC with nothing, renting a place at the YMCA for dollars a day, while working two jobs and going to school at night. I’m inspired by his ambition to make something of himself. He’s a true entreprenaur who never waited for things to happen, and instead created opportunities for himself and others.
What made me think of this was the above video made by Grasshopper. It’s really nicely done and inspiring as well.
